HONOUR BOARD COMPANY

About Us

Our Story

Honour Board Company has a rich heritage in Brisbane’s painting, decorating, and signwriting history, dating back to the early 1900s when George Cox founded George Cox and Sons. George’s dedication earned him an OBE, and the company played a crucial role during World War II by painting camouflage for Australian and allied defense forces. The tradition continued with Albert Cox, George’s son, who was a skilled painter and signwriter.

About Us

The Honour Board Company Legacy

The legacy further extended to Neil Cox, the grandson, who started as a child by painting cartoon characters on glass and built his first illuminated sign at age 11. Neil became a qualified signwriter and spraypainter, eventually establishing Neil Cox & Co. in 1975. His dedication to craftsmanship led to collaborations with prestigious companies like National Australia Bank and Super Cheap Auto. While he sold his business in 2004, Neil’s passion for the industry persists.

Today, Neil continues his signwriting journey alongside son-in-law Tony Fleet, who brings a fresh perspective. Tony, with a background in physical education and signwriting, represents the new generation of the Cox family’s commitment to the trade. Honour Board Company remains a family affair, with Denise and Claire handling administration, accounting, and web content management. Claire’s extensive experience in the trade benefits both new and existing clients through the company’s website.
